Geophysical Survey SB RAS (GS SB RAS) is a juridical entity, it works under the guidance of Geophysical Survey RAS and the Joint Academic Council of the Earth sciences SB RAS, it renders an account to the Presidium RAS and the Presidium SB RAS.
Geophysical Survey SB RAS is an institution of scientific service of Siberian Brunch RAS, has state status. Financial resources of Geophysical Survey is formed from the following sources: funds of federal budget according to the programs of Russian Academy of Sciences and Siberian Brunch of RAS, as well as from the funds come as special financing of investigations, which are carried out according to the federal programs of the Russian Federation; state scientific and technical programs; funds, grants and bounties of international and foreign nonprofit organizations; funds from customers (including foreign ones) for contract work on scientific production (work, services); gains from entrepreneurial activity; gains from farming of immovable, which belongs to federal ownership and was given to Geophysical Survey for operating control; voluntary contributions; other earnings not forbidden by current legislation.
The main purpose of Geophysical Survey is conducting of continuous observations through networks of seismic stations and grounds, aimed at evaluation of seismic risk and earthquake prediction, as well as participation in scientific-research and development projects according to state, inter-branch, regional scientific-research programs, plans of Geophysical Survey RAN, orders of state and commercial organizations on basis of contracts.
Geophysical Survey SB RAS presides the following organizations:
- Altay-Sayan Experimental-Methodological Seismological Expedition SB RAS;
- Baikal Experimental-Methodological Seismological Expedition SB RAS;
- Yakut Experimental-Methodological Seismological Group SB RAS;
- Siberian Experimental-Methodological Laser Group SB RAS.
These organizations are also juridical entities; they independently carry out their activities according to their Regulations
If there is necessity, Geophysical Survey can organize temporary production collectives (groups) for operative carrying out of work on concrete contracts, state tasks or programs.
