Ionosphere monitoring
Ionosphere monitoring is carried out at conditions of vertical sounding
with periodicity of 1 hour and better, occasionally at conditions of
Doppler measuring. The measuring is carried out with help of digital
ionosonde "Parus".

The general properties of the ionosonde
Ionosonde "Parus" is designed for sounding of ionosphere at conditions of
vertical, inclined and back-inclined and transionospheric sounding in
local and automatic mode on the given program. The construction of the
ionosonde is made by modular approach, that allows to change it's
configuration easily. The critical parameters of the ionosonde are given
by program with help of personal computer of IBM PC486 type.
The ionosonde "Parus" provides conditions of a standard ionospheric
station, provide automatic sounding every 1, 5, 15, 30 min and 1 hour. At
conditions of maximum velocity of recording the ionosonde can provide
pickup of ionograms for 6 sec.

The ionosonde is accompanied by special mathematical
support, which includes:

- multiwindow interface - ionospheric data processor
Sounding results
The result of vertical depth sounding with help of ionosonde "Parus" is
the files - digital ionograms, which include data of parameters of
sounding and data of height, frequency and amplitude of reflected signal.
The special program as a unit of ionosonde provides ionogram visualization
on a display. An operator in semi-automatic regime determines the demanded
characteristics of ionosphere (critical frequencies and layer height).

Digital ionograms are archived on CD. Now there is ionogram archive, which was got on ionosonde "Parus" from May 1997. Moreover, there are also kept results of Doppler sounding of ionosphere, which was carried out in the framework of various research programs.
